This monkey is put on top of my favorite body, Ken Stillman's Hitchhiker body. You can put the arms around your head and wear it as a hat, but it also looks great standing alone too and it only uses 2 balloons.
-
1 Make 2 balls from the goldenrod balloon to create eyes. Don't throw away the rest of the balloon yet.
-
2 Wrap spring lilac around the goldenrod balls to finish the eyes. Again, don't throw away the rest of the spring lilac.
-
3 From a 2nd spring lilac, create a loop twist (ear), bubble (cheek), pinch twist (nose), bubble (cheek) and a loop twist (ear).
-
4 Twist balloon to other side (lock onto the ear) and back again.
-
5 Repeat that once more to finish the headbase, place the bubbles so that they form the top of the head and the chin.
-
6 Deflate and cut off remained of the spring lilac balloon. This is what the back looks like
-
7 If you add a set of wiggle eyes you got a cute fast figure too. Just a side note.
-
8 Place the eyes between the cheeks and the top bubble. friction will keep them in place.
-
9 Make teeth and finish the mouth by placing the left over goldenrod between the chin and cheeks. Deflate and discard rest of goldenrod balloon.
-
10 From the spring lilac you got left from the first balloon we create the neck. Make a pinch twist at the end.
-
11 Wiggle that between the bubbles on the back of the head.
-
12 Add a 2nd pinch twist to make it more sturdy. Moving the 2nd pinch twist will make the neck point downwards or to the back. For this figure, I want it pointing to the back.
-
13 Bend a hook in the balloon to finish the neck. The little tail you see on the picture you can cut off and use later on.
-
14 Inflate 2 spring lilac balloons almost all the way.
-
15 Lock them together at the end.
-
16 Make a loop large enough to fit over somebody's head.
-
17 Create 2 bubbles.
-
18 Loop twist them to create a neck.
-
19 Make 2 bubbles.
-
20 Make another 2 bubbles to create the body.
-
21 Loop twist them to create hips.
-
22 At the end of the balloon make a bubble followed by a pinch twist to form feet. Bend legs to form knees.
-
23 From the back.
-
24 Attach head. Inflate the left over spring lilac to create a tail. This finishes up your monkey. You can wear this as a hat. I like the long neck for that because else the head is often hidden. Also point the head a little to the side, just makes it more cute and also adds to visibility.
